Rahul Gandhi on Friday made his clearest criticism yet of the Election Commission regarding claims of voter fraud and hinted at a warning; "Think carefully before you go against the Constitution. We will find you all, one by one. It may take a while, but we will.""The Election Commission needs to realize one important fact… if you don’t give us the information, we can do this for not just one seat but for 10 to 15 seats… you can’t hide. Someday, you will have to confront the opposition," the Congress MP said in Bengaluru. Mr. Gandhi’s latest remarks came after shocking allegations from just a day before.
PowerPoint slides with lots of statistics suggested that the Election Commission and the BJP worked together to ‘take’ 1.02 lakh votes to secure a single seat in last year’s Maharashtra election - where his Congress party and its allies faced a major defeat, just months after winning the state’s Lok Sabha seats. "The Constitution grants every individual the right to vote… but during the last election, we faced a puzzling situation… the INDIA alliance won the Lok Sabha election in Maharashtra, but just four months later, the BJP triumphed in the Assembly election… this was surprising," he stated. Mr. Gandhi mentioned that one crore ‘new’ voters appeared before the Assembly election and claimed that similar fraud occurred before the Karnataka election, which the Congress also won.

"Vote stealing is happening in Karnataka as well… duplicate voting is also happening in Uttar Pradesh." Mr. Gandhi's aggressive statements have been challenged by both the Election Commission and the BJP. The Election Commission asked Mr. Gandhi to provide evidence for his accusations or retract his statements, while the BJP’s Amit Malviya dismissed the Congress leader, stating, "... he doesn’t have a case and is just putting on a political show… merely to confuse the public, create doubt, and damage the reputation of a constitutional agency tasked with conducting free and fair elections."
